# Notifications

> Get notified when compression finishes

## Overview

Compresto sends a macOS notification when compression finishes, telling you how many files were saved and where. Click the notification to reveal the files in Finder. If compression fails, you get a failure notification instead.

## Only Notify in the Background

If you're watching Compresto while it works, you may not need a notification as well.

    Open **Settings** > **General**

    Turn on **Only show notification when switched to other apps**
  </Step>
</Steps>

With this on, the success notification only appears when you've switched to another app. Failure notifications always appear.

  To turn off notifications completely, go to **System Settings** > **Notifications** > **Compresto**.
