# Compression history

> See every file you've compressed and how much space you've saved

## Overview

Compresto keeps a history of your compressed files, with a running total of how much space you've saved.

## Open History

* Press **⌘Y**
* Or choose **Compression history** from the Compresto menu
* Or choose **History** from the menu bar icon

## What You'll See

* **Total compressed files** and **Total reduced size** across all your compressions
* For each file: the original and compressed size, and how much was saved (in size and percent)

Click an item to show it in Finder.

## Large Histories

History loads the newest items first and loads more as you scroll. Use the **Show** picker next to **Latest compression** to choose how many items load at a time: 50, 100 (default), 200, or 500.

## Turn Off History

Turn off **Keep compression history** in the History window to stop recording.

  Turning off history also clears your existing history.

  History is stored locally on your Mac and never uploaded.
